Personal Reflection

A reflection on a my Classic novel study.

Firstly, I am extremely glad this is over, not that it was a negative experience on the whole, I simply do not take well to drawn out projects, they tend to sit forgotten until the eve of the due date. That being said, this project has probably helped me more than I would usually be willing to admit. Generally I procrastinate more than should be acceptable on projects, this project has helped me realize my time of great procrastination is coming to an end. Or I shall have to face the repercussions, if i haven't already. While I had already considered myself a great patron of reading, and understanding books, the CNS has forced me to go into a more technical understanding of literature that I would not have discovered previously. However I would like to register a complaint about the blog format, its very irritating to use and I highly dislike having my work poked at by other people. All together it was a rather positive learning experience if not a positive experience on the whole...

As a reader on the other hand I had a much more pleasant experience. The novel I happened upon, and I did find it by chance, was "Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley. I highly enjoyed it, as a matter of fact it is now one of my favourite books, if just for the scope of the setting. I found it to be a very engaging and relatable read, filled with interesting ideas and well created characters. Well created characters should have been a rarity given the setting but they weren't oddly enough, and I found that entertaining. The whole of the book was very well written and the plot was interesting. The Setting in particular held my interest, as it was very psychological and deep, and his resonated well with my own interests .So I am glad of the CNS, as I doubt I would have read this novel, at least not nearly so soon in my existence, and my life would have been less rich for it.

All in all, I suppose this was a good project its always fun to look at books in different ways and to read books outside my usual branch of literature. I have considered myself a strong reader since the third grade, this project is the only time I have ever questioned my understanding of the book I was reading. I find that highly entertaining, a challenge is always fun despite the CNS format, which I did not enjoy.
